Serve & grow
Crews mow, trim, and clear yards for elderly and disabled neighbors, building consistency, serving with purpose, and learning what leadership looks like in real life.
Voices from the field
“I never led a team; it was a challenge. I’ve always been a follower, so stepping into leadership was scary at first, but once I did it, I started to figure it out, and I learned a lot by just stepping in and doing it.”
— Alberto, 18
“It’s fun, and I am happy to help to know I helped someone.”
— Santiago, 16
“I think it’s rewarding, it feels really good.”
— Zoe, 15
“I learned to finish what I start, and that my work matters.”
— Brody, 13
“We are doing it unto others, and doing it unto the Lord too.”
— Kean, 8
Volunteering with NEP goes beyond mowing lawns; it’s about forming habits that carry into everyday life.
Students take ownership of real work that serves someone else. They show up consistently, work hard, and, when welcomed, spend time with the elderly neighbors they’re helping. Over time, they begin to understand responsibility, respect, and what it means to serve without recognition.
Each yard becomes more than a task. It’s an opportunity to honor seniors, restore a sense of dignity to their homes, and develop young people who understand that leadership starts with service.
